![]() The show was part of Uriah Heep's 50th Anniversary, their latest CD "Living The Dream," and their North American tour with co-Hall of Heavy Metal History Inductees, Judas Priest. Hall of Heavy Metal History Founder/CEO Pat Gesualdo, was joined onstage by Legendary journalist/author Martin Popoff to induct the band. The Induction Ceremony took place onstage during the band's live performance. Russian Circles - So just because the members came from "core" groups (Botch, The Hope Conspiracy, Young Widows, etc.CLIFTON, NJ (June 3, 2019) - Rock fans had a chance to be part of history, when Uriah Heep was Inducted into the Hall of Heavy Metal History, at the Mohegan Sun Casino. There is one group missing though which I clearly don't understand. Post-metal - For the most part, MA has been kind to post-metal, with bands such as Neurosis, Cult of Luna, and ISIS present. Nails - Definitely dark enough and has enough riffs to count as a metal group.Ĭapitalist Casualties - Heck, these guys could qualify as a crossover thrash or speed metal group and yet they're still blacklisted!!! Grindcore - Like above, but in this case, the band has to be more "grind" than "core".Īnal Cunt - Considering Seth Putnam's involvement in the metal scene with bands like Pantera and Eyehategod, and the characteristics of Anal Cunt's music, they definitely belong in MA.Īgoraphobic Nosebleed - They create shitstorms that are equal parts "grind" and "core". Murphy's Law - A pivotal influence on crossover and godfathers of the movement,īody Count - Just because Ice-T is their singer? How ridiculous.Īgnostic Front - 80s stuff is straight up crossover thrash. Every other UK'82 band is in (The Exploited, Broken Bones, Discharge, Cockney Rejects, The Blood, English Dogs), yet not the band who played crossover thrash/speed metal for about half of their existence. Lynch Mob - Every other single George Lynch project is in, so why not?Ĭrossover Thrash - I guess their reasoning behind these next bands not being admitted is based on that they're more "crossover" than "thrash". They debated for a month over their entry only to blacklist them. The rules at MA is that the band needs at least one metal record to qualify and the mods themselves acknowledged it was a metal album, but they didn't want to accept them simply because they're L.A. ![]() ![]() Guns - Probably the only second wave group besides Skid Row who should be in and here's why.I submitted them last year based off of a groove metal record they released back in the 90s called American Hardcore. Plus, Ratt was featured on the original Metal Massacre compilation so enough said.īlack 'N Blue - Another first wave group featured on the original Metal Massacre compilation, yet blatantly blacklisted. Ratt - The debut EP and Out of the Cellar are straight up metal. However, there are some first wave groups missing. Almost every first wave group is in the MA and the only second wave group I can name off the top of my head in there is Skid Row. The first wave was straight up metal that was played by bands who had "the look" (Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, W.A.S.P.) while the second wave was really just radio friendly hard rock posing as metal (Poison, Bon Jovi, Warrant). Hair Metal (early 1980s) - I divide hair metal into 2 eras: the first wave and the second wave. Michael Schenker Group - Part of the NWOBHM, so why are they blacklisted? Every single "raw" sounding metal group's sound including Motörhead, Venom, early Metallica, Napalm Death, Toxic Holocaust, Skeletonwitch, Ghoul, Noisem, etc. ![]() Uriah Heep - Blacklisted from the Archives for being "progressive rock" when other progressive rock groups including Lucifer's Friend and Buffalo are present in the Archives.īlue Oyster Cult - Just as heavy as Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, and Scorpions (all who are in MA) and just as big of an influence.ĪC/DC - Not metal then and not metal now, HOWEVER, they should be included based off of sheer influence alone. However, there are some 70s groups who I believe are indisputably metal including. Original Heavy Metal (1970s) - Many 70s bands that people call "metal" are really hard rock groups who influenced metal (Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Van Halen, KISS, etc.). If you can think of any more, leave your comments or give your opinions on my choices. Thought I'd compile a list of bands who are blacklisted from Metal Archives that are truly metal bands at the end of the day in my opinion.
